Re: Travelers (OOC)
@Terragon Before I post, I need some idea of what the next stop looks like, and who's there to receive Travelers, so I have an idea of what to post when I introduce Il-Sychi. Maybe you should do the next post.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
The next stop is an old, run-down gymnasium currently undergoing repairs thanks to new funding. It has a warehouse-like look with a bunch of exercise equipment thrown off into the corner, tarps over a portion of the floor, and then the rest is just wooden planks with sanded-off finish because they're getting re-done. The place may or may not smell faintly of paint and floor wax.
The Greeter for the Travelers there is an extremely muscular woman who has a bodybuilder-esque form (Not taking anything, she's natural). She's a very nice lady, and handles strange situations very well.
Sorry for the lack of posts, people. The whole week I was preparing and studying for mid-term exams. Almost every test for all of my classes somehow wound up on the same week.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
Welp, I'm waiting for someone to post.
Edit: Is there room for one more Traveler?

Re: Travelers (OOC)
Your characters can definitely show up in the next location, since I gave permission for a special introduction. There's no sense in forbidding it.
Re: Travelers (OOC)
I promise I will post later today. And thanks for the info, Tarragon.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
Well, I figure, everyone will think, 'Man, I'm glad we wound up at the cafe and not here!' Since the gymnasium has few luxuries compared to Valentine's place. Cold metal folding chairs, a cooler jug filled with ice water, vending machines with protein and energy bars, etc. (Quarters were provided, but still doesn't help with all the alien languages. There's a chart with photos to demonstrate how many you need)
Overall, if given the choice, a cafe with a guy willing to serve free, high-dollar beverages and foods, and then just pleasant scenery and comfortable seating, that's far more preferable. Plus, Valentine is the image of a non-threatening character, he's a rather feminine-looking man.
The woman in the gym, by comparison, is very nice, but she's really intimidating. Plus, she's mastered one of Kung Fu's Five Animal forms.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
Yeah, I like Valentine. He's the kind of guy who you like but also feel bad for for having to deal with so much crap. Yeah, he's cool.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
It's fine, I've been trying to get things in order at home, anyway. I got enlisted into helping prepare the garden yesterday, and now we're debating what type of blueberry bushes we should get.
At any rate, glad people like even the characters that don't have any guarantee of re-appearing in the story. That's what I was going for, every single notable named person is unique as an individual. If people liked Valentine and Dr. Blount, even though they're not Travelers, that's a nice thing to know.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
I was the exact opposite with the old roleplays I used to GM. There were too many useless side characters.
But hey, it's a learning experience, am I right?

Re: Travelers (OOC)
My favorite character so far is probably Honey. She's cool.
But anyway, is anyone up for posting?

Re: Travelers (OOC)
Are y'all still open for accepting new rp'ers? I could get started on my character sheet tonight, if so.
Re: Travelers (OOC)
@Glict I'll probably do so later this evening.
@Celo Welcome to Travelers, and to Cameo in general!

Re: Travelers (OOC)
We've barely gotten started, and new characters keep on getting made, even on my own end. Feel free to join, Celo!
Re: Travelers (OOC)
Would a robot be allowed in this RP? I was thinking I could add one more character.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
Anything goes, for what I might accept as a character. Don't think too heavily about what's acceptable or not acceptable before you make the character, if it's not an omnipotent deity, it's probably perfectly fine. If it's too much, we can probably shift things around so that it does work. Animals and robots are perfectly valid options for characters.
Re: Travelers (OOC)
My guess is this applies to Riley, as well, and my introduction for her?Tarragon wrote:Your characters can definitely show up in the next location, since I gave permission for a special introduction. There's no sense in forbidding it.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
I hope it's alright that I started my opening post in LA rather than right at Riley's arrival. And sorry if the post seems a bit half-frogged (as usual) - I have to read for a class and prepare a 10 minute presentation for Thursday, so I need to budget my time
Re: Travelers (OOC)
So many characters. At least there are no idiots that insist that killing everyone is the only way to get back home. I was kinda worried that someone would wanna pick a fight.

Re: Travelers (OOC)
That always irritates me
like
rationalize, bro. Would you kill every. freaking. person. who actually knows how to get you back home?

Re: Travelers (OOC)
The permission for intros extends to everyone.
Regarding characters that go on killing sprees, I loathe that kind of intro a great deal. It's basically an RPer trying to assert their character is the strongest at the beginning of a story, but it's a cheap method by all means, because it comes at the expense of other people who lose their characters due to a senseless rampage that has no real justification. Plus, it comes with the entailment that you don't respect any of the plots the story might have, or the other RPers you're working with, because you'd kill another person's character without their consent.
Well, not just that, but in my rules, it's forbidden to do violent intros (See Rule 16 and 17). Anyone who read them knows better than to do a violent introduction, or I have the right to kill their character.
These things in mind, Valentine is actually almost like a satire regarding the 'violent rampage' trope, because he's implied that he's seen it before, and acts more like it's an annoying headache, versus a thing to be afraid of. He basically acts how all the RPers feel about that kind of intro, because really, when someone does that, we don't usually respect that kind of event in RP's very much. We tend to get irritated, complain about the fact that it wasn't right, and we usually think the person who incited the violence was stupid for doing that. We think the character is stupid, too, for not thinking about the potential consequences.
